Starting From Zero: My Journey to Understanding Math, AI, and Machine Learning

I've always thought I wasn't a math person. Now, driven by my curiosity about AI, machine learning, and deep learning, I'm ready to challenge that belief. This is the beginning of my journey to learn mathematics from the ground up, one course, book, exercise, and mistake at a time.

I've always convinced myself that I'm just not made for mathematics. I'm a literature person. A creative person. Someone who finds meaning in words, stories, and the things we can build with our imagination.

Over time, I've found a balance between my passion for computers and my love for creating things through software development. But recently, as I've become more and more interested in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning, I've found myself drawn toward something I've avoided for most of my life: mathematics.

I've started to wonder whether I'm really not a math person, or whether I've simply believed that for so long that I've never given myself a real chance.

So, I'm going to find out.

I can't afford to go to university right now, either financially or in terms of time. But I don't think that means I have to put this curiosity on hold. There are books to read, courses to take, exercises to solve, tutorials to follow, and an entire world of knowledge waiting to be explored.

Math Path is where I'll document that journey.

I'll share the resources I discover, the courses I take, the books I read, the exercises I struggle with, the concepts I finally understand, and everything I learn along the way. Not as a mathematics expert, but as someone starting from where they are and trying to get a little further every day.

I'm especially interested in building the mathematical foundations I need to understand AI and machine learning more deeply. But this journey is also about something bigger: letting go of the idea that our abilities are fixed, and discovering what happens when we give ourselves permission to learn something we once thought wasn't for us.

Maybe I'll struggle. Maybe some concepts will take me weeks to understand. Maybe I'll have to revisit the same ideas over and over again. That's part of the process, and I want to document that too.

I'm not here to prove that learning mathematics is easy. I'm here to prove to myself that it's possible to start.

If you've ever convinced yourself that you're not a math person, perhaps we can figure it out together.

Welcome to Math Path. Let's see where this takes us.
